According to the 2017 Genworth Cost of Care Report, the median annual fee for a private room in a nursing home is $97,455 and hiring a home health aide runs roughly $49,000 a year. Why are these figures important? Seventy percent of people 65 and older will need some kind of long-term care eventually and majority of them expect government programs to cover all or part of their long-term costs.
