Can a new blood tests predict Alzheimer’s 20 years before cognitive problems appear?

The Alzheimer’s Association finds nearly six million people in the United States have Alzheimer’s and their ranks are expected to more than double by 2050. But a breakthrough in diagnosing Alzheimer’s has just been announced at an international conference on this disease.  This new blood test appears to very accurately detect and predict who has got Alzheimer’s disease 20 years before cognitive problems appear.  The blood test will make diagnosis simple, affordable and widely available and could speed the hunt for new Alzheimer’s therapies and cheaper to screen patients for clinical trials.
