Medicare scams are on the rise

New data from the Better Business Bureau shows Medicare scams have surged by 40 percent compared to last year. These calls from scammers claiming to be from health care or Medicare are actually trying to gain access to your Medicare number. “If you’re a Medicare recipient, you need to understand the odds of you ever receiving an official phone call from the program are incredibly rare,” Alex Beene, a financial literacy instructor for the University of Tennessee at Martin, said.
